Armoured space soldiers

StarSword 700 is not at all inspired by Warhammer 40000. Instead, it innovates the genre with concepts such as "Astro Knights", bulky robots and vehicles, Elves in space, Brutal green creatures! I could go on.

The page is just a bunch of nonsense and late night brain-farts atm. Uh. I meant it's an unpolished diamond. Yes.

I really love your work, and I must admit to being pretty inspired by it for future bits and pieces of our own miniatures line. I wish you would make a miniatures line of your own as I think the concepts you do are head and shoulders above most sci-fi manufacturers on the market.

I don't know if you've heard of it, but reading your ideas about computer aiding tabletop and the upgrading of units and so on I thought of Ex Illis. It's a historical fantasy with demons, angels, magic and so on filtering into medieval europe.

Also, to fit in with your Starguard stuff: Have you checked out Ground Zero Games (currently redoing his online store) and Denizen?

Cool. Your work is always inspiring.

i need more elf pictures (at lest one :> )

Thanks!

I'm somewhat familiar with GZG, but not with ex-illis. Yeah, the SG store is down. I remember liking some of the mech stuff there.

The 15mm Pulp/scifi Krurasan stuff is fun looking. Wasps. Why didn't i think of that? I'm a sucker for Yellow-Black too. I should do... rolly polies with grenade launchers.

And I should indeed do some more elves. I need to find a way to stay away from the cone helmets, so I'm thinking valkyries (winged helmets).

I don't have any 15mm figs. Maybe I should sculpt one now just to get a feel for the scale.

And I should do some Tardigrades.

Scale feel test

Aw, you forgot 20mm and 10mm. :)

Well, they feel a little obscure to me. I'd include 1:144, and 1:100 first, because of Airplane kits, Gundam scales, etc.

You removed the chaos gods? really? with your love of clean designs, bright pastel colours and shapely teen girls in white cotton low rise panties I had you pinned down as a slaneshii cultist ;P.

Yeah, the loss of Slaanesh is the most upsetting. I'm thinking I could do something with Cthulhoid Cenobites (Hellraiser).

That, or an Amazonian Imperial Guard faction.

Or both!

A faction of skimpy amazons and their tentacled companions turned antagonists? didn't you already kinda used that concept whit your Cyberdolls/Hen-Tai backstory?...

You could always paraphrase the "themes" of the chaos gods as a confederacy of nasties/legion of doom/commonwealth of pirates sorta faction, and bring a little of the customization and individuality of Necromunda and Mordheim into the mix: you have to take into consideration gang loyalties and personal interaction among the characters, but are rewarded with a much more personal and flavorful gameplay, kinda like old orks and all their specialist roles and random tables.

The astro knight helmet is really something else. Everyone's done some kind of space fighty guy man by now, but that astro knight really feels distinct, unique, one of a kind yet a careful study of the space marines before it.

and the cyber-Tyranids look like they have a lot of potential.

Man, your artwork is upsetting, it's like a better executed version of all the doodles I did in high school

I don't really mind reusing that concept though ;)

Also, I want to throw some Lovecraft in there. Elder Things, Shamblers, Shoggoths, Polyps, and all that jazz.

The AstroKnight helmet with the horn is inspired by a helmet I saw in Excalibur (80's King Arthur movie), but also from a SM that I saw in the RT era 40K Compendium (p.95) (artist: Steve Tappin). Gary Harrod's stuff looks Bisley'esque with the strong B/W and cross hatching. I'll have to check those artists out. Kev Walker's stuff is always fun too.

I figured I should work at a few things simultaneously. I don't have a GS oven (might be easy to make), so this way I can use the cure time to sculpt other things.
